Craps Betting
Known to many as the pits in the casino where all the screaming comes from, craps is widely accepted as the most exciting professional gambling game you can play. It’s also a mystery to most people out there. Here we’ll take a look at the basics, as I’ve done with other games, and in future articles we’ll look at systems and strategy.
Craps is a complicated game to really get a handle on. There are a wide variety of ways to place a bet, so naturally with that comes a multitude of options. This can be overwhelming for the newcomer who just wants to know the rules and the simplest way to get in the game without getting in over his head.
No problem. Taking a look at a craps table at any of the best online casinos and you’ll see the “pass line” in front of you and on the sides. The most common bet is put here, and it’s a great place for a beginner to start. Now, the shooter will roll the dice. If the roll comes out a 7 or an 11, your pass line bet (and the shooter) are winners. However, a 2, 3 or 12 means you lose your bet, but the shooter remains in that roll. If the later is rolled, the shooter will keep rolling until the point (specific number on the dice and table) is made (if this happens, you both win) or he rolls a 7 (and the bet is lost).
Now, betting on the “pass line” means you’re betting “with the shooter.” That’s what the above scenario describes. If you want to go the opposite direction and bet “against the shooter,” you place your bet on the “don’t pass line.” The easiest way to explain the outcome of this is that the rules are now reversed with one exception. If the shooter rolls a 12 first, nobody wins or loses anything.
Either way, once (if) the shooter establishes the point, the “come” bet is available. This bet applies the same rules as if the shooter were making an initial role…next role 7 is a winner; 2, 3 or 12 role is a loser. Any other number then becomes the “come point.” If you made a “come” bet and this happens, that same number has to come up again before a 7 for you to win. If you see that 7 first, you lose. It sounds a bit complicated, at least more so than just playing on Slots.com, but once you get the hang of things, it’s really pretty easy to play. Those are the absolute basics, without delving into anything too complicated regarding internet blackjack, game play or betting.
